The influence of chitosan oligosaccharide on some hematological parameters in rats exposed to cadmium

The aim of the study was to investigate effects chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) on some hematological parameters, and define percentage alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) positive lymphocytes in rats that had been exposed cadmium (Cd). Thirty-two (n = 32) male Wistar albino were randomly divided into four groups as control (C), (COS), (Cd), Cd + COS (CdCOS) groups. Blood samples collected assess erythrocytes (RBC), leukocytes (WBC), hemoglobin levels (HGB), hematocrit values (HCT), mean corpuscular (MCH), concentration (MCHC), volume (MCV), platelets (PLT), lymphocytes. number WBCs significantly increased group compared C, CdCOS, (P<0.05). Although lymphocyte count decreased (P<0.05), it ameliorated by treatment CdCOS Also, peripheral blood ANAE exhibits a partially protective effect characteristics, apart from cases chronic exposure.
